Students in every grade at East Quogue Elementary School shot for the stars in the school’s annual Hoops for Heart event, aimed to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Participants rotated through a collection of basketball-themed stations such as a dribbling obstacle course, Super Shooter, Jackpot Shot and Knockout, a shooting game. Their athletic efforts raised $6,000 for the AHA, with fifth-grade student Harry Maloney coming out as the top fundraiser.

The day concluded with the entire school gathered in the gymnasium to watch the building’s teachers compete in Knockout.

Adding to the school’s extraordinary volunteer efforts, teachers recently garnered $260 in donations by participating in Go Red for Women Day, an AHA initiative that raises awareness for the prevalence of heart disease in women.
