Students Celebrate Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, first-grade students learned about influential African-Americans in history throughout the month of February.

Each student selected a prominent African-American figure who has affected our country or the world. Students then selected a book on their chosen individual and created an artistic display showcasing fun facts and information about each person. Among the student selections were Maya Angelou, Arthur Ashe, Gabby Douglas, Barack Obama, Rosa Parks and Jackie Robinson.

To conclude the project, each student delivered a presentation teaching the class about the hero they chose.
