East Quogue Elementary School students fostered love and kindness and focused on the importance of mental health during P.S. I Love You Day, held on Feb 9. P.S. I Love You is a national movement that brings importance mental health and assists students in recognizing when a peer or loved-one needs help or a bit of kindness.

Wearing purple to mark the day and demonstrate their commitment to kindness, students and faculty gathered in the cafetorium for their monthly meeting and to drive home February’s theme of “Love.”

In welcoming the student body, Assistant Principal and Director of Student Services Kelly Freeborn reminded the students that the day is about “spreading love and kindness.”

Student school meeting hosts also engaged their peers in activities and information about how kindness can be shown, prior to Superintendent of Schools and Principal Michael Miller announcing this month’s award winners.
