Sixth grade students applied their knowledge of energy transfers and transformations to their Rube Goldberg projects.

Rube Goldberg was best known for his cartoons, which depicted complicated gadgets built to perform simple tasks, known as Rube Goldberg Machines.

Sixth Grade Egyptian Market Project

Sixth grade students participated in an Egyptian Market Project, an educational activity in which they simulated and created a marketplace based on Egyptian culture. The project was designed to enhance students' understanding of history, economics, and social studies in a hands-on and engaging way.

Thank you Mr. Purkis and our 6th grade team for creating andreinforcing historical knowledge while introducing students to economic concepts, as well as encouraging teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. This activity provides a fun and interactive way for students to connect with and better understand the historical and cultural aspects of ancient civilizations.

East Quogue Students Garner Patriot Pen Awards

The district is pleased to announce that sixth grade student Jake Krentzman received a Patriot Pen Award during the VFW Post 5350 Voice of Democracy Awards ceremony, held on Jan. 25. Additionally, West Hampton Beach Middle School seventh grade student and East Quogue Elementary School alumnus Jack Stalters received a third place Patriot Pen Award for Suffolk County.

The Patriots Pen Youth Essay Competition, sponsored annually by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, gives students in grades 6-8 the opportunity to express their opinion on a patriotic theme while utilizing their knowledge of American history. This year’s theme was “How Are You Inspired by America?”

The district congratulates the students on this outstanding accomplishment.
