East Quogue students had a great first week at the Wildcats Adventure Program.

The week started with project adventure-based skills and team building. Each student learned about leadership skills and cooperative team skills and were often out of their comfort zones with Mr. Dan from Empower Leadership.

The students also learned about the Southampton Animal Shelter with a visit from Kristin and an adorable puppy. Kristin explained how the animal shelter runs, what animals they rescue and the items they always need. “We worked very hard to make snuffle mats, blankets, bandanas, catnip toys and tug ropes to bring with us on our visit to the shelter on Thursday where we met more dogs, cats and kittens. The students will also have the honor of naming the next litter of kittens!

The adventure team learned about the science of emotions from the Long Island Science Center and made coping putty. On Friday, the students created thank-you cards to show their gratitude, continued their leadership skills and had lots of fun cooling off with a game of water balloon dodgeball and a treat from Mr. Softee.
