District students learned about goat landscaping and how to take care of other barnyard animals during a visit with the staff of Professional Pet & Home Care. Through this interactive, three-day educational experience, the students learned about regenerative agriculture, being studied in the classroom with teacher Stephanie Rempe, and the environmental impact of the energies used for heavy equipment and noise pollution.
Five working goats started to clear the area behind the school’s garden that was overgrown with invasive weeds, low-lying bushes and vines. Additionally, chickens and a turkey ate weeds and grubs while gently scratching up the garden beds and fertilizing. The students were also able to mingle with baby goats while they learned about their anatomy and purpose.
The district would like to thank the PTA and Ms. Rempe for this unique and fun experience that brought joy to the students and faculty. The activity was a reminder that the district is lucky to be part of such a supportive and vibrant community.
